Real vs. Fake Testimonials
Any law firm can say great things about itself on its own website. That is why we encourage prospective clients to look at what former clients have written on platforms we do not control and to learn how to tell a genuine review from a fake one.
Ronald S. Cook, P.C. has received over 3,000 client reviews across multiple independent third-party platforms. We invite you to read them, compare them to other firms, and draw your own conclusions. But first, here is how to evaluate whether any firm’s reviews are real.

Why Fake Reviews Exist
The legal industry is not immune to fake reviews. Some firms purchase reviews in bulk from third-party services. Others create fake accounts to post glowing testimonials. Some pay for negative reviews to be posted about competitors. And some use AI to generate reviews that sound plausible but describe experiences that never happened.
Fake reviews distort the market. They make it harder for consumers to find trustworthy attorneys, and they reward firms that invest in deception rather than service. Understanding how to spot them protects you.
How to Spot a Fake Review
Generic language with no specifics. A genuine review usually mentions something specific: the type of case, how the attorney communicated, what the outcome was, or how the process felt. A fake review tends to be vague. If a review could apply to any business in any industry, it probably was not written by a real client.
Suspiciously similar wording across reviews. If multiple reviews use the same phrases, sentence structures, or talking points, they may have been written from a script or generated by the same person. Real clients describe their experiences differently because their experiences are different.
A sudden burst of reviews in a short period. A firm that receives two reviews per month for a year and then suddenly gets 30 in one week may have purchased a batch. Legitimate review patterns tend to be steady over time, not clustered.
Empty or generic reviewer profiles. Click on the reviewer’s name. If the account has no photo, no other reviews, was created recently, or uses a name that looks generated, proceed with caution. Real clients usually have review histories on other businesses.
Only five-star reviews with no variation. No firm has a 100% satisfaction rate. If every single review is five stars with identical enthusiasm, that is a red flag. Real review profiles include some variation.
Overly emotional language without substance. Fake reviews sometimes overcompensate with dramatic language without explaining what actually happened. Genuine gratitude usually comes with specifics.
Reviews that sound like marketing copy. If a review reads like it was written by the firm’s advertising department, mentioning practice areas by name, using legal keywords, or including the firm’s phone number, it probably was.
AI-generated reviews. With the rise of AI writing tools, some firms now generate fake reviews using ChatGPT or similar platforms. These reviews tend to be well-written but generic, with a formulaic structure. They often lack the small, specific, human details that real clients include naturally.
What a Genuine Review Looks Like
Real reviews tend to share certain characteristics. They mention a specific type of matter such as a traffic ticket, bankruptcy, or estate planning. They describe the experience in personal terms. They include both positive observations and honest context. They sound like they were written by a person, not a copywriter. And they are consistent across platforms.
Where to Find Our Reviews
Our reviews are posted on independent platforms we do not control. Each link takes you directly to the source so you can verify them yourself.
What Our Reviewers Consistently Mention
Across platforms and practice areas, the same themes come up again and again in our reviews:
Direct attorney access. Clients consistently note that they spoke with Attorney Cook personally, not a paralegal, not a call center, not an intake coordinator.
Clear communication. Legal issues and options were explained in plain English, without jargon or confusion.
Responsiveness. Phone calls, emails, and questions were handled promptly. Clients were not left waiting.
Honest, practical advice. Reviewers describe candid guidance about both the strengths and the challenges of their situation, without pressure or sugarcoating.
Results. Whether the matter involved a traffic ticket, a bankruptcy case, an estate plan, or a debt problem, clients consistently report outcomes they were satisfied with.
A process that was less stressful than expected. Many clients describe feeling reassured and supported during situations they had been dreading.
How to Evaluate Any Law Firm’s Reviews
We encourage prospective clients to apply these standards to every firm they are considering, including ours.
Read the substance, not just the star count. A four-star review with specific details is more informative than a five-star review that says nothing.
Check multiple platforms. A firm with strong reviews across Google, BBB, Trustpilot, and LinkedIn is more credible than a firm with reviews on only one platform.
Look for consistency over time. A steady stream of reviews over months and years is more trustworthy than a burst of reviews in a single week.
Look for the details. Real clients mention specific things. Fake reviews tend to be vague.
Be skeptical of perfection. A firm with thousands of reviews and a perfect 5.0 average deserves more scrutiny, not less.
Our Commitment
Every review on our third-party profiles was posted by an actual client. We do not purchase reviews, incentivize reviews, or post reviews on our own behalf. We do not retaliate against negative reviews. We earn reviews the same way we earn clients, by doing the work.
We believe that when you read our reviews across multiple platforms, you will see consistent, specific, and authentic feedback from real people describing real experiences. That is the best evidence of what it is like to work with this firm.
